Day 31: self isolation/covid 19/2020. Sometimes the late evening light slides across the patio and peeks through the kitchen glass blocks, lighting up the most mundane of objects. Giving simple things - empty cans on the counter waiting for their destiny and next life - creating little still lifes of objects set aside. An accidental arrangement of various sizes and textures the light giving them a chiaroscuro effect. Late summer evening doing the dishes before closing the day is a way to wrap up the household and descend into the quiet night hours and I often get distracted by the light passing over the shapes and textures of things. Pandemic life has slowly evolved into patterns of practice broken up by distractions and an acute awareness that what was once mundane is now a fleeting moment of pleasure.
