Day 24: self isolation/covid 19/2020. Rips and tears, breaks and resolve. I should have known how the day was to evolve when my shoe lace broke this morning. Then a few hours of enduring the incompetence of humanity, followed by a bruised thumb from the stupidly designed refrigerator shelves. As the slanted light broke through the window, day fell into evening, then a warm hello from a neighbor echoed through the quiet quarantined homes. After feeding the feral cats I walked through the garden and stopped to check on my compost pile which is rotting away nicely, turning discarded vegetable scraps into nutrients for the new veggies just beginning to grow. Pandemic life sometimes seems like normal life.
